In Dubuque, three people have been hospitalized after a downtown shooting.

Just before 3 a.m. on Sunday, police officers responded to a call for gunshots, says an article in KCRG in the area around West Locust Street and West 17th Street. Three victims were sent to the hospital and are expected to survive.

The officers also found three vehicles with damage. There are currently no arrests associated with the incident.

These shootings come as many are grieving from the Uvalde. Following the incident, the Dubuque Community School District and the Police Department sent out a message about how they prepare for tragedies such as the one in Texas.

Throughout the year, the Dubuque Police Department (including school resource officers, patrol officers, and tactical response officers) regularly conducts rapid deployment training in school buildings after hours. This not only helps improve police response efforts but also helps ensure familiarity with district schools.

They said they will continue to review and enhance safety at schools.
