Thank you Stephen Hillenburg for creating “Spongebob Squarepants”
The creator of “Spongebob Squarepants,” Stephen Hillenburg has passed away this week at the age of 57. His beloved kids show about a sponge that talks and lives in Bikini Bottom working as a fry cook is a story for the ages and relates to not only kids but adults as well. Personally, I used to watch it on Nickelodeon every Saturday morning as a kid with my dad. The innocence, immature jokes, stupidity and friendship made for a great show and actually taught me some pretty important life lessons. So as a tribute to Mr. Hillenburg here is a thank you note for what I learned from Spongebob.
Thank you Mr. Hillenburg for allowing the show, Spongebob, to teach me:
- It is alright to ask questions, no matter how stupid. “Is mayonnaise an instrument?”- Patrick Star
- Jellyfish hunting is a sport. I mean look at how often they get stung and yet still survive. Try it out if your looking for a new hobby! (Although, you may want to wear bubble wrap)
- Yelling “I’m Ready!” on the way into work every day is the way to get ready for the day! Although, if there are people around you whom are not morning people, I would suggest not being so enthusiastic about it as you may make more frenemies in the morning by being so peppy.
- No matter whether you are a bad or good, we all can have simple manners. I mean if Man Ray tries to be good and return a wallet to its owner and then have his evil moments, we can all balance our bad with our good.
- Never quit! If Spongebob didn’t get his boating school license until season 9 then that means you can do anything, maybe not well and we really question if Spongebob really should have gotten a license, but it is still an important lesson.
- Finally, everyone has and should use their “IMAGINATION!” It can make life so much better and is how you reach your dreams.
Spongebob Squarepants will always be my childhood favorite cartoon, so thank you Stephen Hillenburg for allowing my childhood imagination to run free.
