COVID Vaccine

As reported in Radio Iowa, this topic has been put to rest amongst Iowa lawmakers. Currently, the bill to ban vaccine passports in the state of Iowa has passed through the state legislature and is being sent to Governor Kim Reynolds for approval.

This would place a ban any any Iowa private business or venue to deny entry to individuals who have not received the COVID-19 vaccination. Health care facilities would be exempt from this however. Local businesses and governments could actually lose state funding i.e. grants if they require proof of getting a COVID-19 vaccination, according to the piece of Legislation.

For a few weeks the vaccine has only be available to a select number of Iowa residents, but as reported by Vaccinate Iowa, that is changing. On April 6th, 2021 it was officially announced that all Iowans age 16 and above are now able to get the COVID vaccine.

The Iowa Houses has voted in favor of letting dentists administer COVID vaccines, and to even give these shots in their office. This all is voluntary on the part of the dental office. One of the main arguments against this piece of legislation has to do with training. The worry is that the staff will not have the proper training to deal with the administrative details. Some legislatures and members of the medical community argued that these offices possibly may not have the training to record every shot given into the database.

One of the complaints about the entire process of actually getting a vaccine has been that it's a bit slow, and also people find it difficult to schedule appointments. However, Iowa is trying to change that for residents by teaming up with a major company. The Hawkeye state chose Microsoft to create the digital system to help Iowans schedule their COVID-19 vaccine appointments.
