Friday the 13th is a special night this year! There is supposed to be a rare full harvest moon happening tomorrow night which means all the CRAZIES will be out, so beware Iowa! Okay, so the crazies part isn't true, although crime does seem to statistically increase during a full moon, but the rare full moon is true!

Apparently, it's so rare to have a full moon nationwide on a Friday the 13th that the last time this happened, according to the Farmers Almanac, was October 13th, 2000! The next one won't occur again until August 13th, 2049, so you don't want to miss this amazing occurrence. This full moon will rise at 11:33 pm on Friday the 13th! This full moon is even more special.

It is also a Harvest Moon which basically means that it allows farmers to work late into the night by the moon's light. Basically, the Moon rises about the time the Sun sets, but instead of rising its normal 50 minutes later each day, the Moon rises at the same time each night leading up until the full moon.

Let's take it one step further and make it even more rare by categorizing it as a "Micro Moon." This full moon will appear about 14 percent smaller! So grab your chair, blanket and get ready to hunker down for the night and witness a rarity!
