Big Changes Coming to a Popular Cedar Falls Spot

A popular restaurant and bar in Cedar Falls is set to undergo some major changes.

Nearly four years ago, when I first moved to Iowa, I walked into the Pump Haus on Main Street for the first time. It quickly became a favorite spot.

Now, this beloved Cedar Falls establishment is about to undergo a big change.

Pump Haus in Cedar Falls is Changing Hands

On Friday, November 22nd the owners of the Pump Haus Pub & Grill in Cedar Falls announced some big news on their social media page.

The neighborhood bar located at 311 Main Street will be under new ownership in the near future. After owning and running the pub for twenty-two years, Johna Peterson said that it was time for her and her husband to bid goodbye to the restaurant.

"It's time for a new chapter."

This week, Peterson has listed the restaurant for sale.

The Cedar Falls business will continue to be open for the foreseeable future.

"We are open for business & serving up great food & drinks in a clean, fun environment as always!!" the team said in a social media statement.

Peterson said that they will not be closing until they receive a "credible offer."

When asked about a possible timeframe for the sale, Johna said that they won't  seriously be considering potential buyers until after the holidays.

The staff of the Cedar Falls restaurant want to honor all of their reservations that they have for the holiday season.

While this business move is completely up to the Peterson's, this change is still bittersweet.

"We have over the last twenty-two years met lots and lots of people. And have had tons of employees and have loved watching them all grow and flourish," Peterson said.

She and her husband are grateful for every single person who has walked through those doors over the years.

"It's a pretty tough industry and [the] Cedar Valley has supported us throughout all that time, we're very grateful."
