A term I think we're all a little sick of... shrinkflation. If you're not familiar (somehow) with shrinkflation, it's a concept where companies reduce the size or quantity of a product while keeping its price the same, or sometimes even increasing it.

Think fast food burger sizes over the years... or more recently, fewer sheets of paper towels in a roll.

Thankfully, PepsiCo is waving the checkered flag and saying they're ending shrinkflation with a couple of their popular snack foods.

Your Bag is Going to Grow

PepsiCo, which has a big footprint in Eastern Iowa, is not just the company that owns Quaker Oats, or all the Pepsi products, they also own several popular snack brands like Doritos, Lays, Ruffles, and Tostitos.

In recent years, those bags have contained less product, but the cost has not reflected this, in fact, it's only increased.

Now, PepsiCo promises to replenish some of the bags they downsized. According to CNN, this is to celebrate football season.

Soon, according to a PepsiCo rep, you'll be seeing "bonus bags" on select store shelves. These will contain 20% more chips, but at the same price as standard bags.

So, Why the Change?

PepsiCo is making these positive changes as inflation-weary consumers are cutting back on snack purchases.

Not entirely of course. When they are buying snack food, they frequently opt for more affordable private-label brands from retailers like Walmart and Hy-Vee instead of higher-priced big names like, well Tostitos or Doritos.

As much as we want to fly a brand-name flag since it's "cooler", we also want to save, right?

After years of downsizing, this is certainly welcome news among chip enthusiasts!
