Patsy Cline and Loretta Lynn were fast friends in the late 1950s and early 1960s, during the beginning days of Lynn's career, when Cline was already a star, and a new movie about their friendship is coming soon. Patsy & Loretta will air on the Lifetime network later in 2019.

When Lynn arrived in Nashville, the "Crazy" singer took the aspiring artist under her wing and mentored her during her climb to fame. The pair continued their friendship, touring together and sharing the common struggles of female artists in a male-dominated industry and marriage problems, until Cline's tragic death, at the age of 30, in a 1963 plane crash.

Starring in Patsy & Loretta are Megan Hilty (Smash) as Cline and Broadway star Jessie Mueller as Lynn. The movie is filming on location in Nashville in March. Written by Angelina Burnett (The Americans), the movie is being co-produced by Julie Fudge and Patsy Lynn Russell, the daughters of Cline and Lynn, respectively.

Patsy & Loretta is being directed by Neil Meron, the talent behind Hairspray and Chicago; it will be his first time working alone, as his longtime creative partner, Craig Zadan, passed away in 2018. The film comes from the studios of Sony Pictures Television.
