A few months ago, fans of the hit sitcom 'The Office' were pleasantly surprised to hear that a possible spinoff is in the works.

Unfortunately, audiences won't necessarily see Steve Carrell or John Krasinski's characters hanging out in Dunder Mifflin again, there is a sort of "sister show" that is currently in development.

Not only are they leaving Michael Scott and Pam behind, but they are also leaving Scranton, Pennsylvania behind for...possibly Wisconsin?

Could 'The Office' Be Coming to Wisconsin?

The connecting thread between the two shows will be the documentary film crew that followed around the employees at Dunder Mifflin.

The official synopsis of the new show came out and it confirms some interesting details.

"The documentary crew that immortalized Dunder Mifflin's Scranton branch is in search of a new subject when they discover a dying historic Midwestern newspaper and the publisher trying to revive it with volunteer reporters."

According to reports, the working title is 'The Paper.'

A MIDWESTERN NEWSPAPER are the three little words that are setting some Wisconsin fans off.

Let's Look at the Numbers and Make a Quick Guess

Hypothetically, let's assume the creators are shooting for a similar city to Scranton, Pennsylvania.

The population of Scranton is about 76,000 according to the United States Census.

Green Bay, Wisconsin would be a bit too big if they are trying to set it in a similar area as the original series.

However, Racine has a population of just about 76,000 as well, according to reports.

Is it possible that we might be seeing characters road trip a hundred miles or so to a Packers game? Or maybe even wearing the iconic cheese head hats?

What We Know So Far

There aren't too many details that have been made public about the show.

Officials confirmed that production on the spinoff series will begin sometime in July.

In addition, the two leads of the show have already been cast. Domhnall Gleeson and Sabrina Impacciatore are set to lead the show's ensemble.

Key players from the original series are set to be returning. Most of these individuals are from BEHIND the screen.

Greg Daniels developed the beloved NBC series for American television. He along with Michael Koman are co-creators of this new show and will act as the executive producers.

Even some of the creators of the original British version of the show will be back!

Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant created this version and will be returning to 'The Office' universe as executive producers, according to reports.

There is no set date that fans should expect to see this new series on their tv screens.

We will keep you updated on the release date when it is made available to the public.
