While it has taken too long to get done, it appears that Congress is nearing agreement on another Pandemic Relief Bill. The Gazette reports that congressional leaders are nearing an agreement on a $900 billion relief package that would include, among other things, a second round of stimulus checks. The deal could be done by the end of this week.

The package is expected to include hundreds of billions of dollars in relief for small businesses and jobless Americans. The Gazette reports that it will also feature tens of billions of dollars for vaccine distribution and for schools. Added in the last several days is a plan to give another round of stimulus checks of between $600 and $700 to citizens below a certain income level. The bill will likely be included with several other measures including one to continue funding the federal government.

President-elect Joe Biden stated on Wednesday that the "stimulus package is encouraging. It looks like it's very, very close."

The Gazette reports that the new Stimulus Package will also include a new round of funding for the Paycheck Protection Program. It will also include an additional $300 per week for more than 10 million jobless Americans. A fund that would help with rental assistance is also in the new proposal.

The inclusion of another round of stimulus checks comes after a push from Democrat Bernie Sanders and Republican Josh Hawley. President Trump has also stated that he wanted to see another round of checks go out to hard hit Americans.
