Merfeld Brothers Finish 1 and 2 At Farley Speedway

On a hot July night Christmas was celebrated by the Victory Ford Kids Club at the Farley Speedway on Friday 17, 2015. The racing was as hotly contested as the temperatures on a very fast and smooth 3/8 mile Farley Speedway.

The Klein Custom Homes IMCA Late Model Feature saw several different drivers take their turns at the point position. On a late race restart with Tyler Bruehning up front the action really got hot with Luke Merfeld making a bold move in turn one to charge into the race lead. Luke’s brother John followed and the two Merfeld’s crossed under the white flag side by side. At the finish line it was Luke taking the victory by ½ a car length over John. Chad Holliday ran up front the majority of the race in taking third.

The Precision Transmission IMCA Modified feature win went to Matt Gansen. The 2G of Gansen took the race lead away from JD Auringer as the race neared the midway point and Gansen went on to record his first Farley win of the season. Auringer took second ahead of Zach Less.

The GSI Collision Specialists IMCA Sportmod feature saw Troy Bauer continue his recent hot streak with another feature win. Bauer took the lead from one of Eastern Iowa’s hottest Sportmod drivers in Tony Olson. Bauer scored the impressive win in the 15 lap main over Olson and Austin Heacock.

Norman Chesmore scored his first win of the season at the Farley Speedway in the IMCA Stock Car division. Chesmore held off the constant challenges of Justin Temeyer in scoring the hard fought win.

Quinton Miller overtook race leader Leah Wroten late in the Hobby Stock feature to score another feature win and pad his season long point standings lead. Wroten took second ahead of Luke Bird.

The 2 man cruisers were once again in action on Friday night. The 15 lap main event win went to the team of Strong and Roth who made the long tow from Grinnell, Iowa to race on Friday night.

Racing will continue on Friday, July 24th at the Farley Speedway with hot laps at 7 pm.
