Major Change Coming to Iowa McDonald’s Locations
I don't like this any more than you do... but think back to 2020. The pandemic. I shudder, too.
Prior to the terrible time that was 2020 and much of 2021, many businesses that kept late hours, or simply never closed, changed their hours.
In some cases, it was for safety, but in most cases, it was due to a lack of available employees.

I remember when most Hy-Vee locations were open 24/7.
Other businesses cut back on hours. Many closed Mondays, or earlier in the evening. McDonald's was no exception
That's about to change.

The new hours change won't apply to non-traditional locations like airports and malls, but for a majority of locations, you'll be able to visit later.
This initiative means McDonald's needs more employees.
The company announced plans to hire up to 375,000 employees this summer, making this its largest hiring push in years.
Additionally, in a period when many chain restaurants are closing locations, McDonald's actually aims to open 9,000 more U.S. restaurants by 2027.
What Will Be on the Menu Late at Night?
If you're wondering if all your favorite options will be available late, the answer is mostly.
While most signature menu items will be available during the extended hours, individual franchise owners will decide on specific offerings.
