Iowa Schools Announce Closures as Blizzard Conditions Hit

Winter Storm Brings High Winds and Snow to Eastern Iowa

Unfortunately, that brief blip of "false spring" that we experienced here in Eastern Iowa did not last for too long.

Our weather partners at KCRG-TV are predicting a very active weather event will be moving through the state today.

Yesterday, (March 4th) parts of our listenership experienced some rainfall and a drop in temperatures.

Rain, Snow, and High Winds Expected

Meteorologists are predicting that a storm system will sweep through Eastern Iowa. It will reportedly consist of strong winds and rain that will change over to snow over the course of the morning.

While the snow won't necessarily stick around, gusts that could go over 50 MPH will continue. This could create the perfect storm for blizzard like conditions.

On Tuesday night, multiple schools across Eastern Iowa and beyond announced that they would be closed out of an abundance of caution.
