Earlier this year, Lost Island opened up a brand new amusement park. It was an expansion of the already well-established water park that had been located there for years.

Unfortunately, this new leg of the park had to close a bit earlier than expected, as we previously reported. The park opened in June and reported approximately 250-700 daily guests. Also, multiple rides did not open for use this year.

Better safe than sorry, right?

On a more positive note; the park did receive some stellar recognition for one of the new rides. "Volkanu: Quest for the Golden Idol", was named the winner of Best New Family Attraction for 2022 by Amusement Today.

You can read more about that here.

Now, the park is dealing with the ramifications of a recent theft.

A man is facing charges regarding the theft of some equipment from the park. According to reports, a former employee, David Michael Evans, was caught on camera taking equipment out of one of the facilities warehouses on August 19th. He allegedly took with him hand tools and drones.

In total, that equipment cost approximately $2,500.

According to various reports David Michael Evans was terminated before the incident took place. His former manager apparently reached out to him and told him to return the items.

Park officials are currently trying to have Evans be charged with theft. This is being taken to court, with Evans' first appearance being made on September 19th.

We will continue to keep you updated as the story progresses.
