Unfortunately, a popular Wisconsin destination has popped up on a sour list.
A New Study Finds the Safest/Most Dangerous Tourist Spots in America
In a recent study, the New York Post shared the safest and most dangerous tourist destinations within the U.S.

The rankings mostly ignored the Midwest - not in a bad way, but largely because they aren't as popular for tourists, or they simply weren't safe/dangerous enough to merit inclusion.

A new safety ranking has Lake Geneva, those serene shores in Wisconsin’s vacationland, in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons.

According to a 2025 report from maritime injury law firm Lipcon, Margulies & Winkleman, shared in the New York Post story, Lake Geneva tied for seventh place among the most dangerous summer vacation destinations in the U.S.
Despite its postcard charm, filled with Gilded Age mansions, lakefront beaches, and charming tours, the report highlights a darker side: Lake Geneva saw relatively high rates of recreational drowning, boating accidents, and alcohol-related incidents.
Those risks, along with factors like large crowds and summer heat, contributed to its elevated danger score

Statistics aside, plan a visit to Lake Geneva if you love the lake life, want a closer vacation, or think it seems charming. Chances are, you'll be just fine.
