Lainey Wilson to Headline at 2024 Great Jones County Fair
Is it summer yet?!
The 2024 Great Jones County Fair in Monticello, Iowa will get off to a roaring start with the hottest female act in country music. Lainey Wilson's career is on fire, and she's coming to eastern Iowa next July.
Wilson, a Louisiana native, went to a show at the Grand Ole Opry when she was nine years old. She would later say, "I remember exactly where I was sitting in the crowd... I just remember looking up there, being like, 'Man, I wanna do that.'"
Nineteen years later, in 2020, Wilson strode onto the famous Nashville stage as a performer. She recalled, "When I stepped foot in that circle, it was all over. I just started crying."
Like so many artists with the dream of a career in country music, Lainey Wilson moved to Nashville after graduating from high school. The year was 2011. She wrote songs and performed for years before getting her big breaks in 2018. That's the year she signed a management deal, a publishing deal with Sony/ATV, and a recording contract with BBR Music Group.
In 2019, Wilson toured with Morgan Wallen and her music was featured on 'Yellowstone', a show she would later appear in as an actress. The following year, the song "Things a Man Oughta Know" was released to radio. In September of 2021, after nearly a year on the charts, it became her first number one song. Lainey Wilson had arrived.
Since that time, Wilson has been unstoppable. She's topped the country charts with Cole Swindell ("Never Say Never") and Hardy ("Wait in the Truck"), along with solo efforts like "Heart Like a Truck" and most recently, "Watermelon Moonshine". That song remained in the Top 10 last week, while her hit with Jelly Roll ("Save Me") entered the Top 10.
Wilson will be joined for the concert in Monticello by 23-year-old Jackson Dean. A Maryland native, his debut single "Don't Come Lookin'" reached #1 in 2022. Dean's current single "Fearless", just entered the Top 30.
Lainey Wilson and Jackson Dean perform at the Great Jones County Fair on Thursday, July 18 at 8 p.m. Tickets go on sale this Friday, November 10. All the details on the show, including ticket prices, are available here.
