One of the great things about Iowa Irish Fest is that you'll never know who you'll run into. People come to Waterloo from all over the country for this huge celebration of Irish culture.

The 17th annual Iowa Irish Fest is over and done with, but the memories that all of us made will last for a long time.

That does depend on just how much you drank at the event though...

This three-day festival kicked off on Friday, August 4th and wrapped up Sunday, August 6th. I was lucky enough to be there for the official kickoff to the festival at 4:00 PM. Waves of people strolled through, from bagpipers to city officials even to Saint Patrick himself.

However, one of the guests I was the most excited to see has four legs.

For the past two years, I've been writing stories about Mason Corkery and Gucci the cow. You know them from their viral videos that took the internet by storm in 2021. The Jesup native and his trusty spotted friend have shared videos of their visits to Chick-Fil-A, Dairy Queen, and even Starbucks!

They always get a great reaction wherever they show up!

And recently, they showed up at Iowa Irish Fest in Waterloo. You can check out a video of their fun night out on the town down below!

Who knew cows were fans of beer?

At the event, I FINALLY got to meet Gucci the cow!

I've met Mason a few times before and each time I always ask about how his bovine is doing. FINALLY, I got to meet this internet celebrity in real life. Luckily, Gucci seemed to be up for a few photos and even a quick interview!

Due to Gucci's diva antics that evening, we had to have his human buddy do the majority of the talking.

Corkery is currently trying to get Gucci into the Iowa State Fairgrounds for this year.

Two years back, there were some issues that the content creator had with ISU officials.

Corkery thought it would be fun to try and take Gucci the cow to go tailgating in Ames at the Iowa versus ISU game in September of 2021. In a video on his Tik Tok page, the social media star said that he got a quick response from ISU. He claims that the university officials said that they loved his videos, but that it was a firm no.

"I thought Iowa State was supposed to be an agricultural school, and they don't want me and my cow tailgating?" Corkery said in the video.

Now, this summer he is in talks to possibly spend a day at the Iowa State Fair. Hopefully, he and Gucci can swing a visit out there and maybe grab themselves a funnel cake or two.
