Kelsea Ballerini brought the heat on Day 2 of the 2017 CMA Music Festival when she performed a brand new song from her soon-to-be-released sophomore album. Click play above to watch Ballerini perform "I Hate Love Songs" on Friday night (June 9).

Part of the singer's set at Nissan Stadium, Ballerini's performance of "I Hate Love Songs" was a quiet moment during her 30-minute set, as fans stopped screaming just long enough to let the singer perform the sweet ballad with a simple melody behind her. It was a rare moment of calm in the otherwise explosive set, which began with a roaring lead-in to her debut single "Love Me Like You Mean It" and included crowd-pleasing hits like "Peter Pan," "Dibs" and "Yeah Boy."

Ballerini pulled double duty during CMA Fest 2017: She was both a performer and co-host of the CMA Fest television special alongside Thomas Rhett, who called her "the next country queen" during his introduction prior to her high-energy performance.

"I Hate Love Songs" is just one of five new songs that Ballerini has teased off her forthcoming sophomore album. She's played songs like "Roses" and "High School" during recent live performances, and on June 7, the singer released the album's first single "Legends," which she also performed during her set at CMA Fest.
