For anyone who was looking for a fun time with their dog during the first weekend in August, Bever Park Pool was the place to be!

Bever Park Pool, located in Cedar Rapids, held a two-day doggy splash event, and it was the perfect weekend to let dogs enjoy some time in the water. It was warm, the sun was out, and tons of puppies spent hours playing in the pool.

My wife and I made the trip to the pool on both days and we had a blast using this weekend to celebrate our dog becoming a 1-year-old. We might have a new "Big Air" long jump champion on our hands! More on that later...

K9 Splash!

For any pet owner who wanted to enjoy a few days at the pool, the entry fee was 15 dollars. The money we spent helped aid the K9 Citizens for Off-Leash Areas, which help maintain the two parks in Marion and Ely, according to KCRG.

Bever Pool gave smaller dogs a chance to enjoy the entire pool by themselves from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. both Saturday and Sunday, after 11, all dogs were welcome from 11 to 4 p.m.

Is My Dog Destined for Greatness?!

My wife and I brought Winona home when she was 8 weeks old. It's amazing how she's gone from this to this, in 12 months.

I have no clue why I think this or where I got this idea but for some reason, I think she would really enjoy Big Air jumping that you see dogs do on TV.

I have no clue what makes a good "Dock Dog" competitor and I don't know anything about the sport but for some reason, I think Winona could be kind of good at this. She's got an athletic build, she has long legs, she loves to swim, she LOVES to play fetch, and when it comes to adventures...she's fearless.

She might be afraid of the garbage truck in the mornings or ominous sounds from the TV but when it comes to trying new things, she dives in head first. Which can be a good and bad thing. "Hey Winona, let's keep our face away from that beehive, thank you!"

All summer I've been telling people "I'm going to find a dock so I can find out if she'd jump off of it." We are spending some time at a dock in Okoboji, Iowa, later this August, and you better believe we're going to practice. At the K9 Splash event in Bever Park, we did get a small glimpse of how she would jump in the water after a tennis ball.

Of course, we weren't recording the first throw but she didn't hesitate once the entire time we started this.

Michael Jordan who?! We might have some more practice to do...but it was still pretty fun to watch her jump in without even thinking about it all Sunday afternoon. Maybe one day we'll find a real dock to practice on!

Thank you to Bever Park for hosting this awesome event It was really fun to bring our dog too and watching all of the other dogs having fun made for a great couple of days.

Hopefully, they can have this event again next summer!
