University of Iowa Scores Big: Famous Author Announced as Distinguished Speaker

It seems like the University of Iowa always brings in the best speakers.

Now, officials have booked author, YouTuber, and entrepreneur John Green.

Earlier this month, University of Iowa Lecture Committee officials announced “An Evening with Author, Entrepreneur, and Digital Creator John Green.”

During this event, Green will be named the 2023 - 2024 Distinguished Lecture.

Who is John Green?

Green is the bestselling author behind Looking for Alaska, An Abundance of Katherines, Paper Towns, The Fault in Our Stars, and Turtles All the Way Down.

The Fault In Our Stars was made into a hit movie in 2014 that starred A-lister Shailene Woodley.

His most recent novel Turtles All the Way Down is getting the film treatment as well. The flick is set for release on May 2nd, 2024 on the streamer Max.

Not only is he a well-known author, but he’s a big name in the online space. His brother Hank and him are known as the Vlogbrothers on YouTube.

The duo are also behind the hit educational video series Crashcourse.

The New York Times bestselling author will be receiving the Distinguished Lecture award from the University Lecture Committee, according to reports.

Event Details

Green will be appearing at the University of Iowa on Thursday, April 18th. His lecture will begin at 7:30 PM in Iowa Memorial Union Main Lounge.
