Jameson’s in Waterloo Responds to “Country Bar” Rumors: Here’s What’s Really Happening
Waterloo Restaurant Responds to Rumors of Major Change
One popular Waterloo restaurant addressed rumors circulating around on social media regarding a major change.
Jameson's Public House: A Cedar Valley Staple
Jameson's Public House, located at 310 East 4th Street is the only authentic Irish pub in Waterloo. The Cedar Valley staple was established in 2005, and opened for business in February of 2006, according to the official website.
"Since then, we’ve been bringing the Emerald Isle to the Cedar Valley with our fine food, Gaelic atmosphere and great entertainment."
New Ownership Brought Temporary Closure to Jameson's Public House
In April of 2024, it was announced that Jameson's would be closing down temporarily as the reins were handed off to the new owner, Jeremy Jones.
Jones also owns and runs Screaming Eagle in Downtown Waterloo.
Jameson's reopened to the public after getting a bit of a facelift a few weeks later.
Social Media Rumors Spark Community Buzz
Now, it looks like even more changes are ahead for the popular Irish pub.
In a Facebook group called Waterloo-Cedar Falls Foodies, a rumor began circulating that the Downtown staple would be changing from an Irish inspired pub restaurant to a country bar.
Also, there were talks on social media that Jameson's would close temporarily after St. Patrick's Day.
Once the posts started to get some circulation and word started getting around about this change, the Jameson's team spoke up.
Jameson's Public House Confirms a Rebrand
In a social media post, the restaurant's team confirmed that the eatery would undergo "an exciting rebrand in the near future."
No Official Closure Date Announced
The nature of this rebrand and what the possible new vibe of this Waterloo spot has not been confirmed at this time.
"It simply doesn't make business sense to continue on with a concept that has historically only been supported during Irish themed events. Rather, the decision has been made to put our time and energy into a new concept!"
While part of this rumor turned out to be true, the specific date that was given for any sort of temporary closure was actually debunked.
The owner confirmed that he will keep the public updated as he moves forward with this process.
