13 Players from Iowa, ISU, and UNI on 2022 Senior Bowl Watchlist

Preseason watchlists for awards, trophies, and All-America/Conference teams are everywhere right now as college football season is quickly approaching.

Just over a month ago we shared the 18 Players from Iowa, ISU, and UNI that are under the watch of scouts from the East-West Shrine Bowl. Not only that, but we addressed Xavier Hutchinson being the only player from Iowa's three state schools to be on the watchlist for the Maxwell Trophy, and this week the Associated Press released its preseason All-America teams.

And that's not anywhere near close to all the watchlists that have come out. For example:

Here are the 13 players from Iowa, Iowa State, and Northern Iowa that are on the Reese's Senior Bowl Watchlist heading into the 2022 season.

The Reese's Senior Bowl is one of the top opportunities for players -- especially from small schools -- to get in front of NFL scouts again before the NFL Draft. The young men can show what they've been working on since their seasons came to an end, and the national media can, too.

Trevor Penning was a great example last season.

The small town Iowan went from an under-sized, under-recruited linemen to being a first round NFL Draft pick when he was taken 19th overall by the New Orleans Saints this spring.

He's had a bit of a learning curve since taking his first snaps in the preseason, but he's getting there.

He's even made some news for getting a little rough at practice. UNI fans have known this, but that's just Trevor. The Saints fan base will grow to love his nastiness.
