John Deere Announces Mass Layoffs At East Moline Harvester
Following an earnings call this week, John Deere has announced even more layoffs at one location.
It's no secret that John Deere has had a number of layoffs over the last few years. WHBF reports that the number is over 1,000 layoffs since 2023.
Now, it looks like over 100 more employees will be let go.
Lori Lauren, program director with the American Job Center, told WHBF that 115 John Deere employees will be laid off at Harvester Works in East Moline.
In their earnings call, Deere & Co. said, in the fiscal 3rd-quarter, they had a net income of $1.29 billion. They exceeded Wall Street expectations in the per-share net income, coming in at $4.75 instead of the projected $4.62.
It was Wednesday, the day before the earnings call, that John Deere filed the mass layoffs notice.
The Timeline Of Layoffs
Layoffs seem to be a frequent thing at John Deere but KWQC has the breakdown of Deere's layoffs at the East Moline Harvester location:
- September 2023: layoffs begin
- October 2024: over 200 people let go at Harvester Works, 80 people laid off at Davenport Works, 7 at Moline Seeding
But Deere refuted the report on Illinois DCEO’s WorkNet website that claimed a total of 819 employees are being impacted by layoffs that started in September 2023. Deere clarified that they are not currently laying off 819 people. That report is currently no longer listed on the website.
Out of the over 1,000 people to be let go at John Deere since 2023, 710 of the layoffs have been at the East Moline Harvester location.
