Despite being announced the same day it was set to take place, with tickets going on sale merely hours before the show, and very minimal promotion that wasn't last minute, Phoebe Bridgers' concert in Davenport was a hit.

The indie folk artist had a pop-up concert on Friday, May 29th at the Raccoon Motel in Davenport. Word got out about the show just hours in advance that Phoebe Bridgers would be performing, and that got hundreds to drop whatever they were doing for a chance to see the artist live.

Flyers were posted on the Raccoon Motel doors at around 11:30am on Friday. By 12:15pm, the show was sold out. Only 120 people were able to get tickets. Fans of artists have gotten accustomed to these kinds of last minute, "pop-up" shows, and Bridgers' fans are among the most rabid and faithful. Per KWQC, fans ditched everything from work to graduation practice to try and score tickets, despite the limited quantity and notice.

Raccoon Motel doors opened at 6pm, and the show kicked off at 8pm. Furthermore, phones were not allowed in the venue. Devices were ordered to be put in Yondr pouches — a specialized, magnetically locking fabric pouch used by venues to create "phone-free spaces" — to be unlocked after the show, per KWQC.

Such a move makes these pop-up concerts that much more intimate and special, without the distraction that comes with illuminated cell-phone screens polluting the vibe. Not to mention, the air of exclusivity and impromptu nature of pop-up shows make them that much more unique. The All-American Rejects held a surprise show at an Ames, IA barn last year.

Consequently, however, with minimal planning and the need to be on social media to get the info in the usually finite amount of time that comes with this territory, pop-up concerts reward those who are online and extremely connected with the artist. With numerous Grammys and hits under her belt, Phoebe Bridgers is in a special echelon of artists who can do these kinds of shows and find tremendous success.
