UConn, Iowa Women Schedule Blockbuster Home-and-Home

The old saying in sports is, "To be the best, you have to beat the best." In women's college basketball, there is no program greater than UConn. Head coach Geno Auriemma has won 12 National Championships, the most recent in 2025. Iowa made back-to-back National Title games in 2023 and 2024. The two teams will meet thanks to a new home-and-home series.

Iowa and UConn Agree to 2-Year Series

The Des Moines Register reports that UConn and Iowa have agreed to a two-year, home-and-home scheduling agreement. We don't have a lot of details, but here is what we do know. UConn will host the Hawkeyes in a non-conference game during the upcoming season in Connecticut. Iowa will then host the Huskies in a non-conference game during the 2027-2028 season at Carver Hawkeye Arena.

The Register reports that UConn has announced that this year's game will be played on November 8th. The tip time and TV have not yet been announced. No date is set for the matchup in Iowa City next season.

Iowa and UConn Recent Rivals

Iowa defeated UConn 71-69 in the Final Four during the 2024 season. The game would be Caitlin Clark's final win in an Iowa uniform, according to the Register. UConn topped the Hawkeyes last season 90-64 in the Champions Classic in New York City. The Huskies last played in Iowa City during the 1999 season, one year before Lisa Bluder took over the Iowa program.
