Iowa Postal Customers Shipping Deadlines For Christmas Delivery
I'm a fan of our postal system. What's not to like? They bring us stuff, from packages to birthday cards, at one time, letters (do the kids or adults still write those?), and even bills. Yeah, I've tried, but to no avail on the bill front. I've asked kindly that they NOT forward the bills, but they're good postal peeps, and they bring it all.
Jim The Postal Delivery Dude
When I lived back in the DC area, I was a collector of all things. Still am, but I've slowed. Our postal person, we'll call him Jim because that was his name, he was our carrier for 20-plus years.
Jim was a veteran and was injured while serving. It was obvious he had an injury, but that guy moved like the wind. I'm able-bodied... okay, I'm able to stand up and not fall over most of the time, that's able-bodied, right? Jim would have run circles around me.
He would chat me up when delivering my many items, and what a wealth of knowledge he had. He always had an interesting topic or mentioned something associated with an address on one of my packages. Good times. That's how I learned of his service and how he walked a route until it got too much, and then they gave him our area, which required a vehicle.
I'm glad they did, and Jim, if you're reading this (doubtful, but ya never know), thank you again for your service and for teaching me a thing or two or three.
Kind of a Big Deal Over Here
So, when the post office contacted me about shipping dates, I'm guessing they knew I knew Jim and sent this reminder. They even got my name right! Wow, thanks U.S. Postal system, thank you. I'm kind of a big deal, so you may gaze upon the letter I got from our postal service. I doubt you'll be getting one of these.
What Does the U.S.P.S. Want You to Know?
I'm a bit of a procrastinator, so I should have had this article to you a few weeks ago, but then I thought, "hmm, what's this over here?" That might be more ADHD than procrastination, but it's all in there. But here we are.
Christmas seems a few weeks away because it is. Soon, Christmas will be tomorrow, and then it'll be a little late to get those important items delivered on time. If you're living in Iowa, when do you need to get those cards, letters, and packages to the post office so they can be delivered by Christmas? The USPS holiday shipping deadlines go like this:
- USPS Ground Advantage Service and First-Class Mail Service: December 18
- Priority Mail Service: December 19
- Priority Mail Express Service: December 21
Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
