If you'd like to surround yourself with the smell of lavender this summer, you can check out one of these awesome Iowa farms!

Calyx Creek

Located at 1722 255th St NW in Oxford, Calyx Creek is a family-owned lavender farm that offers "unique lodging, lavender treats, and shopping," as well as different classes and experiences throughout the summer months. Current events on the Johnson County farm's calendar include yoga classes, a charcuterie picnic, a sip & paint party, a lavender wreath-making class, and 'Fridays at the Farm,' which feature live music and food trucks.

Calyx Creek's "unique lodging" includes four different rentable properties: the Hilltop Treehouse, Creekside Treehouse, Large Shepherd Hut, and Lavender Suite. You can get more information on each option HERE. There is also a newly-completed, 3,000-square-foot event venue that can be booked for weddings, parties, and other special events! You can check that out HERE.

According to their Facebook page, Calyx Creek is currently open six days a week: Tuesday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday & Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Iowa Lavender

25016 Sand Hill Trail is home to Iowa Lavender, "a boutique, family-owned farm in Ames, where they grow, harvest and personally handcraft irresistible lavender products." But, unlike Calyx Creek, the farm isn't typically open to the public. They will host a few events and classes throughout the year, but otherwise, it's only available for private events. The good news is that their products are available at various local farmers and vendors markets, including the Des Moines' Downtown Farmers' Market! You can also purchase their products online HERE.

For the latest updates on events and appearances from Iowa Lavender, you can follow the official Facebook page HERE.

Southeast Iowa Lavender Farm

The Southeast Iowa Lavender Farm is located in Mediapolis at 24850 92nd Ave. Since beginning in 2020, the farm has grown to have more than 400 lavender plants! Like many of the other Iowa lavender farms, this one is also only open for specific events. Current events on the schedule include their one-year anniversary party on June 21st, weekly yoga classes, and massages in the lavender fields. The Facebook page says that they anticipate you-pick lavender to start soon, too! To check out their products and make a purchase online, visit the farm's official website HERE.

The Loess Hills Lavender Farm

Missouri Valley on Iowa's west side is home to the Loess Hills Lavender Farm, where they "provide a peaceful experience centered around the mystical and magical herb, lavender." The farm is open from May through September, with peak bloom occurring between the end of June and August. Stop by Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. or Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. to take a walk through the fields and shop local vendors at their farm store!

You can also visit the Loess Hills Lavender Farm for the Lavender Stock Festival July 19th & 20th, a tea party, a yoga class, or a craft class, or book a private party or event at the venue! For a list of events on the schedule for this summer, you can check out the official Facebook page HERE.

The Lavender Farm at Sutliff

The Lavender Farm at Sutliff is located in Lisbon near the Sutliff Bridge and Baxa's Sutliff Store & Tavern. Once their lavender is in bloom, the farm opens up for u-pick flowers from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. The farm also grows other flowers and produce throughout the season. For the latest updates on the farm's opening, you can follow the Facebook page HERE.

Pine Hill Farm Lavender Festival

Pine Hill Farm at 4022 Campfire Rd in Walker grows a wide variety of different flowers, but they dedicate an entire festival to their lavender! The Linn County Farm is preparing to host their 2nd annual Lavender Festival this July, which features cut-your-own lavender, food, vendors, and live music. The 2025 festival will take place July 11th & 12th from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. You can get more information on the event HERE.

Aside from the festival and other special events, Pine Hill Farm is NOT open to the public. But, photographers can book one-hour private sessions with clients for $100 HERE, and there's a self-serve farm stand with fresh flowers and produce that operates daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. You can also catch them at the Downtown Cedar Rapids Farmers Market this summer.
