[UPDATED] Child Killed in I-380 Crash North of Cedar Rapids
[UPDATED SUNDAY, MAY 21] The person who was killed in an accident on I-380 early Saturday has been identified as 10-year-old Elijah Beeman of Waterloo. The driver, 30-year-old Roberta Hare of Waterloo, and a second passenger, a 5-year-old girl that was not identified, were both injured.
[ORIGINAL STORY] An accident along I-380, north of Cedar Rapids, killed one person overnight.

According to the Linn County Sheriff's Office, emergency responders were called to a one vehicle accident just after 3:05 Saturday morning, May 20. The incident happened along I-380, just to the south of Cedar Ridge Road, near Center Point.
Linn County Sheriff's Deputies, along with Hiawatha Police, Center Point Fire Department, Center Point Ambulance, Hiawatha Ambulance, and LifeGuard Air Ambulance all responded to the scene.
When they arrived, emergency personnel found a white Chevy Venture van that was on its top in the west ditch on the southbound side of I-380.
There were three individuals inside the van who were all taken by Center Point and Hiawatha Ambulance to St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. One of the three was pronounced dead at the hospital. The other two occupants have non-life-threatening injuries.
The names of those involved will be released after family is notified. The crash continues to be investigated by the Linn County Sheriff’s Office.
The person killed on I-380 this morning, is the fourth fatality on Linn County roads in just over seven days. Last Friday evening, May 12, 19-year-old Jessica Youngton of Cedar Rapids was killed in a one-vehicle accident on northbound I-380, near the 7th St. NE bridge. She was the only person in the vehicle.
Sunday, May 14, just before 3 a.m., 23-year-old Aja Dampier of Cedar Rapids and 29-year-old John De Lapaz (Cedar Rapids was last known address, according to police), were killed when the Dodge Caliber they were in spun out of control, striking another vehicle. The accident, in the 2100 block of Williams Blvd. SW in Cedar Rapids, left three others injured.
