Iowa BBQ Joint Named One of America’s Best by DoorDash

DoorDash has ranked an Iowa restaurant as one of the best spots for BBQ food in the United States.

How did DoorDash come up with its rankings? The Des Moines Register reports that it analyzed restaurants with fewer than 10 locations on its app. To qualify for the list, the restaurant needed over 1,000 reviews and a top overall customer rating. Only 25 restaurants in the nation were selected, according to the Register.

Which Iowa Restaurant Made the DoorDash List? 

The only Iowa restaurant on the DoorDash list was Smokey D's BBQ in Des Moines. It was one of just five BBQ spots selected in the Midwest, according to the Register. Smokey D's has over 4,000 reviews and an average customer rating of 4.7.

The Register reports that the most ordered item at Smokey D's on DoorDash is the dinner platter, which comes with two meats, two sides, and is served with garlic bread. The chopped pork sandwich is also a popular choice.

Where Can I Find Smokey D's BBQ?

The Register reports that if you head to Des Moines, you have two Smokey D locations to choose from. The main restaurant is located at 5055 2nd Street NW in Des Moines, and is open Sunday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Smokey D's also has a Skywalk location at 601 Locust Street in downtown Des Moines that is open Monday through Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The Register reports that there were four other Midwest BBQ restaurants that made the list, including;
