Documents show that a new McDonald's restaurant is coming soon to the city of Cedar Rapids.

The Cedar Rapids Gazette reports that last week, the Cedar Rapids City Zoning Commission approved a rezoning request for three parcels of land just off Center Point Road NE, near Interstate 380. The land would be used for the new McDonald's location and an attached parking lot.

The parcels of land are located at 3201 and 3215 Carlisle St. NE. and 1712 32nd St. NE. The Gazette reports that the rezoning requires final approval from the Cedar Rapids City Council. A public hearing has been set for May 27th.

The Gazette reports that planners at the meeting did not identify the restaurant by name, but documents contained in the publicly available agenda packet revealed McDonald's USA LLC as an affiliated party. City officials say the restaurant will be 4500 square feet with a drive-through and attached parking lot. A traffic study of the area is currently underway.
