A Cedar Rapids Restaurant Opening, Closing, and Relocation

Mas Margaritas is closing, Pregame Brew and Chew is relocating, and a new restaurant called Casa De Ojos Locos is set to open soon. How are these stories all connected? Let's break it down.

Mas Margaritas

Located at 588 Boyson Rd NE, Mas Margaritas Mexican Restaurant first opened its doors in early 2020. The success of the eatery lead to an expansion in 2022, which featured room for 80 more diners, a bigger bar, and larger kitchen.

In late 2024, Mas Margaritas surprised customers when they announced a temporary closure "to make some big changes." One of those changes was new ownership. The restaurant was taken over by the owners several other area restaurants, including Daisy's Garage, Cruz's Cafe, and Pregame Brew & Chew. It officially reopened in mid-February of this year.

Cut to September. Just yesterday (September 30th), Mas Margaritas shocked diners again when they revealed on social media that it was their final Taco Tuesday. The post reads:

"We’ve got exciting news to share…Starting October 7th, Pregame Brew and Chew will be taking over this location!

Thank you for all the memories, Cedar Rapids — let’s make this last Taco Tuesday one to remember!"

Pregame Brew and Chew

Pregame Brew and Chew moved into the space at 3025 Mt. Vernon Rd in Cedar Rapids back in August of 2024. It took over the former home of another Mexican restaurant that had recently closed: Mamacita Taco Bar.

Just over a year later, Pregame Brew and Chew has made the announcement that they are set to relocate to 588 Boyson Rd NE. But, that's not the only revelation in the announcement. The sports bar also revealed that a brand new restaurant would be moving in... another Mexican restaurant! The Facebook post reads:

"Mt. Vernon road we hear you!

You want more Mexican food nearby!

Casa De Ojos Locos will be taking over the Pregame Brew and Chew current location on Tuesday October 7th. But don’t worry you’ll still be able to get your Pregame menu favorites including the cork n fork sandwich!"

Unfortunately, we don't know much about Casa De Ojos Locos yet, aside from the tease posted above.. There doesn't appear to be a website or Facebook page for the new restaurant just yet. But, we will keep you updated when more information arrives!
