Back in August, farmers in northeast Iowa found out they would need to find a new grain distributor after the distributor in Jesup lost its license.

On Friday, August 19th, the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship suspended B & B Farm Store’s grain dealer license. Then on August 23rd, B & B Farm Store consented to a voluntary revocation of their warehouse and grain dealer licenses.

Then last Friday, the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship suspended the warehouse and grain dealer licenses for a distributor in Hancock County.

The suspension of Global Processing Inc. of Kanawha’s warehouse and grain dealer licenses means that they can not provide those services until further notice from the department.

Global Processing provides consumers with “a high-quality supply of raw whole non-GMO soybeans delivered directly to your food manufacturing operation” says their website. Based out of Kanawha, they provide consumers with bagged soybeans, soybean oil, and soy protein. Global Processing also has facilities located in Nebraska and Illinois.

According to the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship, Global Processing’s license suspension is “based upon the company’s failure to have sufficient funds to cover producer grain checks and failure to file monthly financial statements in accordance with Iowa Code 203 and 203C.”

A hearing has been requested by the Department of their actions. This should be held in the immediate future.

This issue falls under the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship’s Grain Warehouse Bureau which regulates and examines grain dealers and warehouse operators all over the state of Iowa.
