Iowa’s Pheasant Hunters Should be Excited for 2018-19 Season
The Iowa DNR shows lots of potential for this pheasant hunting season.
The Iowa DNR has been tracking the population of pheasants in Iowa and have determined that the pheasant population is the second highest it's been in a decade. The Iowa DNR surveyed and found 21 pheasants per every 30 mile route.
Upland wildlife research biologist for the Iowa DNR, Todd Bogenschutz says, "We weren't sure what to expect from the survey this year because the spring weather was all over the board and it likely impacted some nesting success. The take home message is, if you had good hunting last year, you can expect similar hunting or better hunting across most of the state this year."
The pheasant hunting season goes from October 27th, 2018 to January 10th, 2019.
