Iowa’s Favorite Muppet Is Complete Garbage!

A social media post blew up this week because of its controversial takes...on Kermit the Frog.

I'll admit it, I've always had a soft spot for characters like Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, and Kermit the Frog. In 2011, the only movie that my Dad could get his preteen and eight-year-old kids to agree to see in theaters was 'The Muppets.' This is where our mutual love for these characters came from.

Then nearly a decade later, my sister and I found ourselves diving back into these films and tv shows during the height of the pandemic. It was almost like a security blanket that we held onto when times were a bit scary.

Twitter users were sharing their hot takes about these characters earlier this week. An account for Kermitment - A Muppets Podcast posted a map of the United States and what each state's favorite Muppet character is.

I will say this...these takes are absolute garbage! Like who even is Sal Minella and why is he the most popular Muppet in Colorado?

Or Mr. Poodlepants? WHO ARE YOU PEOPLE?!?

And you'd be unpleasantly surprised at Iowa's favorite! One would think that Iowans love Miss Piggy the most because of all the pork that comes from out here, right?

That's the obvious pick, right?!?

You'd be incorrect with this guess. Iowa's most popular Muppet is...Animal?

That's right! The angry and aggressive drummer is our pick! Could this be a nod to bands like the Iowa based group Slipknot? Five other states have Animal ranked as their favorite.

Turns out this graphic was meant as a sort of statement on the importance of voting. In a follow up Tweet from the podcasters, they said;

"Not happy with the results in your state? Just goes to show you how important it is to get out there and vote, unless you want someone like Mr. Poodlepants representing you."
