Summer is upon us! It's many Iowans' favorite time of year. What's not to love?

County fairs, pools, beaches... yeah, we have a few of those in Iowa.

It's all about soaking up the vitamin D and making the most of the days and nights when we can be outside and not have to worry about putting on layers.

Actually, this summer, you'll want to remove as many as possible because it's going to be a hot summer, according to the experts at NOAA.

NOAA's map has Iowa "leaning above" normal. While that's about as mild as anywhere on the map, it's still above average.

When NOAA or meteorologists say "hotter than average," they’re often talking about temps ranging from 2–5° higher than normal, meaning we could see more frequent days in the upper 80s to mid-90s, especially in July and August.

Will it be a Wet Summer?

Last year, we had a ton of rain in the spring and more than normal in the summer. But in 2025?

In Eastern Iowa, we're sitting in "equal chances" land. I guess that means we're not expected to see a lot of rain, maybe somewhere around the average amount.

A decent part of the country is likely to see more rain, and a good portion, including a chunk of Iowa, is supposed to be drier than average.
