Well, here we are in the early days of May. Generally one of the most beautiful months in the Midwest.

Trees bloom.

Gardens get planted and start sprouting.

Barbeques and the smell of grilling start popping up in Iowa neighborhoods.

Kids play outside.

Summer unofficially begins with Memorial Weekend.

But what about in 2022? Well, it's been cold. Drizzly. Windy and, not to be overly pessimistic, but dreadful. The average high (for Cedar Rapids) in Iowa during the month of April, which we just concluded, is 63.

This year, we had an average high in the 40s according to WHO. While this is for Des Moines, it wasn't much different in eastern Iowa.

But now, it looks like our cold weather is about to change. Big time.

It's gonna get much warmer very quickly

It seems as though the rollercoaster that has been spring 2022 is set to continue with temps set to blounce from the 40s and 50s to... the 80s for Cedar Rapids and Waterloo. And, just like that accoridng to the National Weather Service.

You read that right. Our highs for next week are set to bounce from low 60s ending this week, to the 80s where we could be for a couple of days, beating our average high in May of 74. So there you have it. 40s this week. 80 by next Monday.

So I guess that means, so long spring? Mother Nature canceled you? Sad. We hardly knew you. But hey, bring on warmer weather, greener trees and barbeques!
