Caitlin Clark Passes Lynette Woodard As Iowa Destroys Minnesota

The Iowa women's basketball team is beginning to get ready for March Madness. An emotional senior day showdown against #2 Ohio State is coming up on Sunday. But Wednesday night Iowa needed to take care of business at Minnesota. Iowa came out aggressive, focused, and shot lights out. It was a Gopher butt-kicking at the Barn.

Caitlin Clark came out on FIRE. She had 12 points in the game's first 3 minutes of play. She scored 21 points in the game's first 11 minutes. Iowa led 39-16 after the first quarter. And they were just getting started.

The Des Moines Register reports that Iowa would shoot 56% from three-point range, and knock down a school-record 22 in the game. Iowa would go on to rout Minnesota 108-60. With the win, Iowa posted its first 25-win regular season since the 1991-1992 season.

Caitlin Clark was electric. The Register reports that Clark recorded her second straight triple-double, the 17th of her Iowa career, and she had it by the end of the third quarter. Clark would post a line of 33 points, 10 rebounds, and 12 assists. She also surpassed the scoring record set by Lynette Woodard in 1981. That was before the NCAA kept track of women's statistics. The Register reports that Clark understood the importance of Woodard's record.

I wouldn't have the opportunity to be able to do what I'm doing every single night if it wasn't for people like her...I'm just really thankful and grateful to have those (women) that have come before me. And yeah, it's super special. Obviously, she's one of the best all-time.

The Hawkeyes have one regular season Big Ten game left. Senior Day on Sunday against #2 Ohio State. It will be the final regular season home games for Kate Martin, Gabbie Marshall, Molly Davis, and possibly Caitlin Clark. It will be MUST SEE TV.
