Iowa Families To Receive $28 Million In Grocery Vouchers

According to reports, the federal Pandemic Electronic Benefits Transfer or P-EBT program is extending a lifeline to families in Iowa, offering them $120 per eligible child in grocery vouchers. These vouchers are scheduled to land in mailboxes across the state by October 4th, providing additional assistance to families with school-going children who receive free or reduced-fee meals. To qualify, children must have been in grades K through 12 in May, enrolled in schools participating in the National School Lunch Program, and have attended school in person. Eligibility for free or reduced-price meals can be established through various means, including direct certification, approved meal applications, or attendance at Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) schools.

It's important to note that changes due to the COVID-19 pandemic mean that children under six in households receiving Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits no longer automatically qualify.
