With the COVID pandemic still causing illnesses throughout the world, and with cases still surging in Iowa, Hy-Vee has reinstituted their reserved shopping hour for at risk customers at all of their locations.

The reserved hour, first introduced in the spring, then removed in the summer, will be offered at all Hy-Vee locations from 7 am to 8 am, Monday through Friday, and is dedicated for these customers:

  • Ages 60 and older
  • Expectant mothers
  • Anyone with an underlying health condition(s) that makes him/her more susceptible to serious illness

In a press release sent to this station, Dawn Buzynski, Hy-Vee's Director of Strategic Communications said of the policy,

As COVID-19 cases continue to rise in the areas we serve, we believe it’s necessary to bring back this special hour to best serve customers who are at a higher risk of serious illness.

The hour is only Monday through Friday. There's several Hy-Vee's in northeast Iowa.
