During the creation of the upcoming Halo Infinite game, the audio team at 343 Industries used a common musical instrument in an uncommon way to create the game’s sound effects.

Instead of simply playing a piano, they used a hammer, baseball bat, and even dry ice to destroy it, resulting in some very spooky sounds. The team also placed a subwoofer on the piano to use it as a resonator.

According to gadgets.tv, Halo Infinite will support the Dolby Atmos, Windows Sonic, and DTS Headphone:X virtual surround sound technologies, which will allow users to hear spatial audio even when wearing stereo headphones.

So, when will the game be released? The company is still targeting a fall release after numerous delays. It was originally supposed to come out in Autumn 2020, then August of 2021. The most recent Halo installment, Halo 5, was released in 2015. The first Halo game was released on the original Xbox in 2001. By 2006, the Xbox version of the original Halo had sold over four million copies and earned $170 million in the United States alone.

As of February of this year, the Halo game series have sold more than 81 million copies.

A Halo TV series is currently in production and is set to debut on Paramount+ in the winter of 2022. The series will start Pablo Schreiber as Master Chief.  He's probably best known for his role on The Wire, and as George "Pornstache" Mendez on Orange Is the New Black.
