I remember growing up waiting all week for Saturday night. There was one television show that I hated to miss, and I just found out it is trying to make a comeback.

For me growing up, Saturday nights were made for FOX-TV's 'American Gladiators'.  I still remember each and every gladiator.  "Nitro," "Malibu," "Laser," "Zap" "Ice.", and the others. They were my modern day super heroes come to life. Now the kids of this generation might be able to enjoy the exact same thrill.

'American Gladiators' originally aired from 1989 to 1996, and there was a brief comeback in 2008.  It featured amateur men and women as they competed against each other as well as the show's "Gladiators." The show spawned several international adaptations.

It has been in development for the past seven months, and it will be shopped to broadcast and cable networks in the coming weeks.

The new 'American Gladiators' being shopped around will incorporate elements inspired by the popularity of both 'The Hunger Games' and mixed martial arts. Although this will have more of a post-apocalyptic feel, the show will have the same spirit of the show I fell in love with as a kid.
