Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds revealed at her morning press conference that an additional 508 Iowans tested positive for COVID-19. That brings the state's total to 6,376. Nine more Iowans died from the virus, seven of them in long-term care facilities, raising the state's total to 136.

The governor also announced an additional seven outbreaks at long-term care facilities in the state. They are Granger Nursing and Rehab Center in Dallas County, Dubuque Specialty Care in Dubuque County, Park Centre and Acura Healthcare of Newton West (both in Jasper County), the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshall County, and Fleur Heights Center for Wellness and Rehab and University Park Nursing and Rehab, both in Polk County. All of the facilities are located in counties that are among the 22 still under tight restrictions.

KCCI reports there are now a total of 23 long-term care facilities in the state with COVID-19 outbreaks.

Beginning Wednesday, April 29, a Test Iowa test site will be opening in Waterloo at Crossroads Mall. Waterloo has the second-highest average daily growth rate in the U.S., according to the New York Times, at 30 percent. Sioux City has a daily growth rate of 131 percent, far and away the highest in the nation. Des Moines is also on the list, at sixth, with a daily growth rate of cases of 15 percent.
