On October 17th, 2023, my wife Kori and I added a little 4-legged bundle of joy to our family. We have plenty of cats to go around the house...so why not add a dog into the mix? We named her Winona, which was an idea that a friend of ours gave us. Winona, Minnesota, is the town Kori and I met in, and it's where we lived before moving to Iowa.

Nona has been with us for a little over a month and it's insane how big she's got in this amount of time. My little puppy isn't exactly little anymore.

Winona, for the most part, does a pretty good job being a part of our family. There are times it can be easy to get frustrated but she's potty trained, has a good grasp of her basic commands, and really enjoys being around people. She has her puppy moments where she'll find a shoe or a sock to try and chew on. Thankfully we've been pretty quick to spot moments like this.

She does a pretty good job with the cats but we're still learning the cats don't always want to play. She's been on play dates with some of our friend's dogs and gets to go on all kinds of family adventures with us. Overall, she's been a great addition to our house.

For Thanksgiving weekend, Winona got to experience going to Grandma and Grandpa's house in Minneapolis, Minnesota. We had a family dog named Lola for 13 years and sadly, we recently had to say goodbye to her. So it was pretty fun to see another dog playing around in the house again.

When we finally got back home from our long weekend, Winona experienced something she had never seen before...SNOW! First off...what the heck Iowa? I leave for 4 days and come back to having to shovel my walkway and driveway? Not cool. My wife was able to capture Winona's first time playing in the snow and she seemed to really enjoy it.

We'll have to see how she enjoys the snow if it gets to be taller than her! She might have to wear her new Flannel if we ever get to that point.
