Strawberry season is upon us. We'll be seeing a whole lot of vendors at Iowa farmers markets start to sell the fruit right around, and plenty of farms start to open up their fields for you to pick some of your own.

The end of May all the way through most of June is prime strawberry season here in the Hawkeye State. Many of these farms that have the fruit in Eastern Iowa are gearing up for the summer!

A few spots are finally getting ready to welcome eager strawberry pickers to their fields. Here's a list of some of the spots you can check out if you're planning on snagging some for yourself!

Annie's Acres Strawberries ~ Bellevue

Address: 30327 Mill Creek Road, Bellevue

Annie's Acres should be opening up for pick your own strawberries very soon. From the looks of the fruits in their fields it could be open for business in just a few days. The team behind this Bellevue farm encourage people to check out their Facebook for more up to date info.

Berry Patch Farm LLC.~ Nevada

Address: 62785 280th Street, Nevada

Some unfortunate news for customers hoping to get their strawberries from this family farm. Berry Patch team members shared that they experienced crop failure of this year's strawberries.

However, rhubarb is available and the rest of the crops look to be in good shape!

The Berry Basket Farm ~ Iowa City

Address: 2683 HWY 1 SW, Iowa City

Hours of operation: During strawberry harvest, they expect to be open from 9am to 5pm.

The owners of Berry Basket, Kristina and Mark, shared on the farm's website that it looks like the crops won't be ready to pick until the second week of June. They encourage you to keep an eye on their website for the latest updates.

Heartland Farms ~ Waterloo

Address: 5111 Osage Road, Waterloo

Hours of operation: Every single day 8am to 7pm

Strawberry season is officially underway in Waterloo! Heartland officials announced that the strawberries are ripe and ready for pickin'!

The Waterloo farm also offers an already picked quart of strawberries for only $7.

Hinegardner Orchard ~ Montour

Hours of operation: 7am to 6pm

The strawberries at this orchard are usually available and ready for picking starting on the first week in June.

I fell into a rabbit hole when I found out that Roseanne Barr almost had a mansion in Iowa. After seeing the current state of the property on Facebook, I was amazed that such an extravagant project could be so quickly overtaken by nature. Only two hours away from Waterloo, this abandoned field could have hosted some of the coolest and elite Hollywood parties in the Midwest.
