Cowabunga! Drunk Surfing Is Illegal In Iowa

Say it ain't so! Apparently grabbing a cold one and surfing is not a-okay here in the Hawkeye State. Not only is it not okay, but it's actually against the law to do so.
To be honest, I didn't even know there was a place to go surfing here in Iowa. I don't think there are any oceans near Iowa...
Iowa is landlocked so it would be kind of difficult to be drunk and surf here, but there is a law about surfing while under the influence.
It's explicitly stated in an Iowa Law Code that this is illegal. Specifically, Iowa Code 462A.12 section 1 reads,
No person shall operate any vessel, or manipulate any water skis, surfboard or similar device in a careless, reckless or negligent manner so as to endanger the life, limb or property of any person.
This section of the rule makes sense, don't do or mess with anything that could endanger someone while on the water. The following part is where the rule gets a bit more interesting...
A person shall not operate any vessel, or manipulate any water skis, surfboard or similar device while under the influence of an alcoholic beverage, marijuana, a narcotic, hypnotic or other drug, or any combination of these substances.
Besides surfing under the influence, doing any of the following water activities such as water skiing and boating while intoxicated is also illegal. Just be smart and get a designated surfer...
