Cubs Beat Cardinals, Even Series at 1-1 [Tidbits]
The Chicago Cubs pushed five runs across the plate at Busch Stadium to propel them past the the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 2 of their NLDS Series on October 10, 2015.
A monster two run home run by Jorge Soler capped of a five-run second inning for Chicago, and the Cubs earned a 6-3 win over the Cardinals to even the best-of-five series at one game a piece.
The MLB Postseason series moves to the friendly confines of Wrigley Field in Chicago for Game 3. (4:30 PM or 6:00 PM on TBS). It will be the first postseason game on the 'North Side' of Chicago since Game 2 of the 2008 NLDS. Jake Arrieta, who threw a shutout in the NL Wild Card Game against the Pirates on Wednesday, will take on St. Louis' Michael Wacha.
GAME 2 TIDBITS:
- When the Division Series is tied at 1-1 in the Wild Card era, the winner of Game 3 has gone on to win the series 25 of 32 series.
- In the current 2-2-1 Division Series format, the road team that splits the first two games away from home has won the series 17 of 29 times.
- Chicago starter Kyle Hendricks served up a leadoff homer to Matt Carpenter in the first inning. He then retired 14 of the next 15 batters he faced before Kolten Wong and pinch-hitter Randal Grichuk smacked back-to-back homers with two outs in the fifth.
