Cheers! Iowa Business Owner Competes on Reality Competition Show
If you were flipping through your different streaming services, you might have noticed an Iowa native on your television screen earlier this week.
An Iowa distiller competed on a recent episode of 'Moonshiners: Master Distiller.' Described as "the ultimate booze-making competition series" the show pits brewer against brewer in the ultimate competition.
Each episode pits three different competitors against each other.
The rest of this article will contain spoilers for the November 2nd episode of 'Moonshiners: Master Distiller.'
Marquas Ashworth is a self-taught distiller, who learned his trade in his hometown of Carroll, according to KCCI. He owns and operates his own whiskey company based in Des Moines called Ziyad Rye.
The Iowa based distiller announced that he would be releasing a moonshine-based cocktail that comes in three different flavors ahead of the show's premiere, according to the Des Moines Register. These spirit flavors include: Lemon Rush, Watermelon Drip, and Berry Bussin Tea.
Sounds delicious!
On Ashworth's episode, entitled Prehistoric Shine, the Iowa man along with the other distillers had to make whiskey made from grains that "go back thousands of years." These contestants spent time shooting the episode in the Great Smoky Mountains.
Sadly, Ashworth did not win this round of competition. The judges told him that his drink was just a bit too spicy. The episode premiered on the Discovery Channel on November 2nd, and the show is currently streaming on Discovery Plus.
