
Cedar Falls Adjusts Garbage Pickup for Thanksgiving Week
Thanksgiving is fast approaching! This year it's on Thursday, November 27.
Because the holiday season, starting with Thanksgiving, is upon us, we're starting to get updated city services hours.
Cedar Falls has just announced theirs.

The city has released its holiday schedule for city facilities and garbage collection in observance of Thanksgiving.
Cedar Falls City Facility Hours
City Hall: Closed November 27–28
Hearst Center for the Arts: Closed November 27–30 (always closed Mondays)
Cedar Falls Public Library: Closes at 5 p.m. on November 26; closed November 27–28
Cedar Falls Community Center: Closed November 27–28
Recreation and Fitness Center: Open 7:30–10:30 a.m. on November 27; open regular hours on November 28. The Community Natatorium will be closed on November 27.
Cedar Falls Tourism: Closed November 27–28, but brochures are available year-round in the Visitor Center lobby.

Refuse and Yard Waste Schedule:
There will be no garbage collection on Thursday, November 27, or Friday, November 28.
Thursday collection moves to Tuesday, November 25
Friday collection moves to Wednesday, November 26
There will be no large item pickup during the week of Thanksgiving due to double route collection. Regular pickup resumes Monday, December 1.

The Transfer Station will be open Saturday, November 29.
Yard waste pickup will shift to a call-in basis from December through March 2026. Residents can contact Public Works at 319-273-8629 to schedule pickup or ask questions.
