Parking in or around Main Street in Cedar Falls has been an issue for years.

While on the surface, a good problem: people wanting badly to shop and dine locally; a lack of parking spaces could, in the end, drive people away.

Cedar Falls does have a new parking option, however, that aims to alleviate some of the woes when it comes to visiting Main Street.

Cedar Falls Has a New Parking Option

To expand parking options in the Downtown District, the City of Cedar Falls has opened the new 2nd Street West municipal parking lot, located at the site of the former U.S. Bank building.

You Can Now Purchase Parking Passes for Cedar Falls

Cedar Falls offers lot-specific parking permits for municipal lots. A daily permit costs $3, and a monthly permit costs $35.

With the permit registered to your vehicle, you can park in designated off-street lots for up to 48 consecutive hours.

The new lot is a temporary solution through spring 2026, when the entire 2nd Street West parking area is scheduled to be restructured.
