Just yesterday, Courtlin and I talked on the air about how we were a little frustrated at the lack of new information on when and where you still needed to wear a mask. Most businesses are still requiring one to enter, but I'll be honest. A lot more people are going without. Enter the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention. They too spoke out on masks yesterday and announced some updated suggestions.

CBS News reports that the director of the CDC stated that yesterday was "another day we can take a step back towards normalcy." The new regulations, aimed at Americans who are fully vaccinated, can now do the following activities safely, without a mask.

  • Walking, running, hiking or biking along outdoors, or with members of your family.
  • Attending small outdoor gatherings with fully vaccinated family and friends.
  • Attending small outdoor gatherings with a mixture of fully vaccinated and unvaccinated friends.
  • Dining at outdoor restaurants with friends from multiple households.

So are all outdoor events safe to go without a mask? The CDC still recommends that large outdoor events like a live performance, parade or sporting event, fully vaccinated people should still wear a mask. The CDC released a chart outlining what is safe and not safe for those who are fully vaccinated and those who are not.

Medical experts say that as the number of daily cases of COVID go down, the safer it will become to do daily activities, both indoor and outdoors. But until then, when in doubt, keep that mask handy.
