Basketball fans have used the term 'the Caitlin Clark effect' since she began dominating the college ranks and setting a new record every time she stepped onto a basketball court.

Most people expected Caitlin to continue that success in the WNBA, and I'd say, so far, she has. Her numbers on the court are already hard to fathom, as she's had multiple "first-time ever" moments in the WNBA this season. Currently, she already has more assists than 80% of WNBA players in the history of the sport, and she's only played in 34 games.

Barring any tragic injury, Caitlin will go on break and set multiple WNBA records throughout her career. What she's done on the court has been nothing short of incredible. What might be more impressive is how she has helped grow the Indiana Fever and the WNBA brand, as a whole.

The Indiana Fever have released their mid-season growth numbers and I'm not sure if a single athlete has ever done something like this in only 34 games.

Indiana Fever Mid-Season Growth Numbers

These numbers were released by the Indiana Fever and tweeted by Joe Pompliano, who is the host of the Joe Pomp show. Some of the biggest highlights from the Caitlin Clark Effect are;

  • Sold out 100% of season ticket inventory
  • Total attendance is up 264% from last year
  • 230,000 fans have attended Fever ROAD games
  • Jersey sales have increased 1,193% from last year
  • 2,826 gallons of draft beer have been sold in 2024, which is up 740%
  • The Indiana Fever has over 800 million views on social media in the last month
  • The Fever has more social media views than any other WNBA, NBA, NFL, NHL, or MLB team has over the last 4+ months.

Here is the entire list of the Caitlin Clark Effect.

Unless my sports history is failing me, there is not a single athlete who has done this for a sport, this fast..ever.

The Caitlin Clark Effect is completely real and this is something we might never see again in the history of sports.

West Des Moines native and Iowa Hawkeye alum Caitlin Clark has taken the world by storm over the past year. She was selected 1st overall in the 2024 WNBA Draft. Her rookie season might not have started out too strong, but at the halfway point in the season things started to look up for Clark and the Indiana Fever
